Born in 1970 in Charleston, United States, and graduated from BA Rhode Island School of Design, Shepard Fairey now lives and works in Los Angeles. Coming from the skateboard scene, he first became known through the André the Giant Has a Posse stickers, which gave the Obey Giant campaign. His work gained worldwide recognition during the 2008 US presidential campaign, with the creation of Barack Obama's HOPE poster that would become an iconic image of the campaign.
The Boston Institute of Contemporary Art considers Obey to be one of the best and most influential Street Art artists of the day.
