Keith haring

Keith haring, born May 4, 1958, is an American cartoonist considered an emblematic figure of contemporary art and Pop Art.

He experiments with performance, video, installation and collage, while still maintaining a strong commitment to drawing. In 1980 Haring found a very effective means of communication which enabled him to communicate with a wider audience. He begins to draw in white chalk on black paper-covered advertising signs all over the subway. Between 1980 and 1985, Haring produced hundreds of these public drawings, sometimes creating as many as forty "subway drawings" in a day. The metro has become, as Haring said, a "laboratory" for developing ideas and experimenting with simple lines.
